KINGDOM
OF MUSTANG
Mustang is a Tibetan lost valley and stands as
a hidden treasure of Nepal and geographic extension
of Tibetan plateau and bleak beauty of it’s
wild, bare terrain evokes the Tibetan highlands
which was founded in the 15th century by a Tibetan
Monarch who consolidated various small local chiefdoms
in to the Kingdom of Lo. Eventually Mustang was
incorporated Nepal but is has been remained isolated,
open recently to trekkers in 1992. Full of myth
and legend , crumbling ruins and practical kings
are aspects of your Himalayan adventure, not to
be missed. Mustang is the old kingdom of Lo, actually
the capital of Mustang is Jomsom, but the real
Tibetan district lies north of Kagbeni and is
usually referred as the Upper Mustang. It gives
you and opportunity to visit the main town Lo
Manthang, and one or two of the villages beyond.
Mustang is and independent itself as the regional
king “Mustangee Raja” still rules
the area.
