MACHHAPUCHHARE-The
Other Sanctuary
This excellent trek is designed as an alternative
to the Annapurna Sanctuary. The route climbs up
the crest of the ridgeline to the east, directly
below the summit of Machhapuchre, and is certainly
harder than the normal Sanctuary trek. Form the
forested hilltop of Khorchon there is a rough
passage that leads to the high ground we have
called the ‘Other Sanctuary’. Several
days are spent exploring the surrounding area
and sightings of wild goat and Impeyan Pheasant
are likely. On the return a descent is made of
the eastern flank of the hills passing through
the Pipar Pheasant Reserve to the Seti river and
Pokhar Valley.
