Mt. LHAKPA RI (7045m / 23100ft)
Expedition
Lhakpa Ri is regarded as the highest trekking
peak in the world superbly positioned and historically
significant peak lying directly opposite Everest’s
Northeast Ridge, on the watershed between the
East Rongbuk and Kharta glaciers. Bill Tilman
made the first ascent of this peak during the
1936 Everest Reconnaissance Expedition. We begin
our journey with a trans-Himalayan flight to Lhasa
then the overland journey across the Tibetan Plateau,
& the trek towards the footsteps of Mallory
to the Everest North Ridge expedition route, to
the high camp from ABC to summit. And the view
from the summit is some of the finest Himalayan
scenery imaginable, including Everest North, Cho-Oyu,
Shishapangma, mountains of Khumbu-Lhotse, Baruntse
to Makalu and Kangchenjung. After the successful
climb, we drive via the route to Nyalam, Kodari
to Kathmandu completing this memorable expedition.
