Mt. ANNAPURNA
I (8,091m / 26,544ft) Expedition
Located on the Annapurna massif, east of a great
gorge cut through the Himalaya by the Kali Gandaki
river in North-central Nepal, Annapurna is an
enormous Himalayan massif is the tenth highest
mountain in the world and was the first 8000m
peak ever climbed and the main summit stands on
the west of Annapurna Sanctuary. It was first
climbed by the French expedition team Maurice
Herzog(now a senior French politician) and Louis
Lachenal on 3rd June 1950 via the North face,
and by Christ Bonington via the South Face in
1970.
All the routes to this mountain is not easy, it
is probably why there are fewer climbers have
reached to the summit in comparison to other 8000m
mountains.
